This forum will provide an opportunity for local
community organisations, local council, Government agencies and service
providers to:
 | Share and listen to ideas from people living and
working in the Central Highlands |
 | Share information about your organisation |
 | Support each other to continue to find ways of
working together to further build and strengthen the Central Highlands
community |
 | Increase awareness of available opportunities for
the Central Highlands through national, regional and local initiatives |
Expected
outcomes from the Community Network include:
 | A greater understanding of available services and
opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of the Central Highlands
community |
 | Stronger relationships formed between agencies and
therefore more effective referral systems established with the aim to
build a healthier inclusive community |
 | Development of a network for information sharing |
 | Development of a Community Events Calendar |

This is not a closed network and everyone

Some Previous Achievements
 | Setup a Community association that is insured and registered as a
not-for-profit business, has strategies and policies and is constantly
evolving as we grow and learn. |
 | Successfully been granted $43,240.00 with the National Suicide
Prevention Strategy and have employed a local Community member, Angela
Cooper, one day a week to manage this project. |
 | Received funds worth $1,360.18 for some children’s summer time
holiday fun which ran successfully during the school holidays thanks to
some motivated community volunteers. |
 | Received from the Office of Youth Affairs $2,200.00 to support our
youth leaving school and embarking on further education by running a
transition program in 2007. |
 | Secured the management role of a ‘Parenting Hub’ and ‘Mobile
Playgroup’ for the Central Highlands through the Communities for Children
Project. Three people have been employed to run this very important
project directed at children from 0 – 5 and their families. The
project has been called TADPOLES. |
 | Received an ACE Grant of $4,300.00 of funding for skills
development for community groups in the Central Highlands. |
 | Received funding to run some women’s exercise programs in 2007 |
 | Operation bus Stop,
the brain storm of two passionate members Lana Benson and Tracey Turale
who through sheer will and determination have been successful in raising
over $35,000.00 toward solving a major community issue and that is
TRANSPORT. |
